Pizza On Rails? IRCTC To Take Orders For Domino’s Pizzas On Trains

And just like that we’re in the era of the truly modern Indian Railway

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced a tie up with Jubilant Foodworks to deliver pizzas across 12 stations in the country. Jubilant runs India’s most popular pizza chain Domino’s.

For now only passengers travelling on trains without pantry cars will be able to order pizzas on route, however the service will eventually be rolled out across more trains and stations.
The 12 stations at which the service has been initiated are as follows: Agra Cantonment, Alwar, Jaipur, Ambala, Jalandhar, Mathura, Muzaffarnagar, New Delhi, Pathankot, Vapi, Bharuch and Vadodara.
Passengers will have to order their pizzas two hours ahead of the train’s arrival time at any of the given stations, which can be made via, calling a toll-free number (1800-1034-139 and 0120-2383892-99) or can SMS ‘MEAL’ along with their PNR number to 139.
IRCTC began its e-catering service in September 2014 and has been actively looking for partners to tie up with. The body is also in talks with Cafe Coffee Day, Pizza Hut and Barista to open their outlets in railway stations.
