Booking Unreserved Category Rail Tickets? There’s Now An App For That

The Indian Railway is all set to launch a new mobile app for the booking of tickets in the unreserved category. The move will also push the IRCTC’s agenda of paperless ticketing, as users won’t require printing out tickets. The app will be available for download on Google’s Play Store for Android smartphones. All payments will be made through the railway e-wallet.

The app is available for download on Google’s Play Store, and has been downloaded between 50,000 – 100,000 times in the past two days.
After downloading the app, users to receive a registration ID number of creating a railway e-wallet. Loading money into the e-wallet will be possible through either a credit card or debit card on the IRCTC website or at a ticket counter at any railway station.
Users who book tickets via the app will not need to show a printed copy to the TTE, displaying a soft copy would suffice. Besides booking unreserved tickets, users will also be able to reserve season tickets using the app.
