ISRO’s Bhuvan to be launched in March, 2009

ISRO’s Bhuvan Satellite, slated for November launch will now be available in the month of March, 2009.

While Google Earth’s data is ~3-4 years old, Bhuvan will upgrade their data every year and also boasts of high resolution imagery of the order of 5 metres, which can be used for real-time exercises like disaster management and military operations.

Given the current issue with terrorists using Google Earth, ISRO is not sure whether to make the product available for general public or not.
