Ten domestic firms have been selected by the Indian Space Research Organisation for the transfer of Lithium-Ion battery technology. ISRO uses the same battery technology in its satellites and launch vehicles.
The selection of these local companies will boost Indian Govt’s two of the most ambitious campaigns Make-In-India and the drive towards electric mobility. Apart from electric vehicles, Li-ion batteries are preferred in gadgets and telecom equipment, etc.
The selected firms are- Amara Raja Batteries Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, Carborundum Universal Limited, Exicom Tele-Systems Limited, GOCL Corporation Limited, GOCL Corporation Limited, National Aluminium Co Limited, Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited, Tata Chemicals Limited, and Thermax Limited.
