Now that the online travel business is slowing down (commissions have dropped from 7% in 2001 to 5% in 2005, to almost 0% by October this year.) , most of the travel players are eyeing the hotel search business and are attempting to be the travel planner (instead of ticket booking portal)
In order to stay more relevant to consumers, iXiGo, the meta search engine has partnered with TravelGuru, Inasra and Hostelworld to bring a wide range of accommodation options across the country (from hotels, service apartments to hostels).
iXiGo has also partnered with HolidayIQ and OKTataByeBye for displaying user reviews from these sites on it’s search page, giving relevant information that helps users in decision making.
Give iXiGo’s hotel search a spin and share your comments.
More from the OTAs:
- ClearTrip has launched international flight booking with improved algorithm and experience.
- US based Kayak has launched it’s India portal, Kayak.in
- ezeego1 launched hindi portal (http://hindi.ezeego1.com) and plans to launch in various other regional languages (Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati) within the next one year.
I have asked this earlier as well – are we witnessing a penguin effect in Indian OTA Industry?
