Japan Launches Advanced XRISM X-ray Telescope to Deep-Space In Collaboration with NASA & ESA

  • XRISM, with a microcalorimeter spectrometer detector, promises sharper, detailed X-ray observations 30 times sharper than NASA’s Chandra.
  • The telescope will study the universe’s hottest regions, largest structures and objects with strongest gravity.
  • The same rocket also carried the ‘Moon Sniper’, a small-scale lander part of the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) mission.
