Today, the twitterati is trolling Pahlaj Nihalani, the controversial censor board chief who was all around promoting sanskari culture (when he was in charge) and now, suddenly is seen producing an ‘erotic thriller’, Julie 2.
While the world is criticising him for being a mean guy (+ spineless +selfish), let’s see what has happened in a day.
- People have taken notice of the movie (trending on social media).
- Everyone is talking about it. People are either angry or sarcastic about Nihalani’s involvement in this. Either way, they are talking about it.
- Everyone now knows the release date (which matters A LOT).
- NextBigWhat and many other folks are discussing it (reaching out to other audience).
Laugh at it or hate it. You can’t ignore it. The surprise element has gotten everyone talking.
What else does a marketer want?
The biggest challenge with any marketer / creator is when his/her work goes unnoticed.
Rather : when it is not being talked about. When nobody gives a damn!
And Julie 2, now is anything but unnoticed.
FYI: Baadshaho’s official trailer received ~3 mn views and Julie 2’s teaser trailer has already crossed 5.5 mn views (and the trailer ~1.6mn).
Who is winning? Will Twitter trolls impact film collection? You know the answer.
If you are a marketer, do take a minute to pause and think of GTM strategy these guys had.
And now, for your sake, here goes the trailer.
