JustDial Wants to Enable Online Transactions; Movie Ticketing, Cab Booking on the Cards; Q2 Profit Up 2.2%

justdial.jpgLocal search company JustDial, which employs over 8000 people now, said that it has launched products focused on restaurant food order & is working on products that will help people reserve tables at hotels, order grocery, wine, movie tickets, book cabs, seek doctor’s appointment and have flowers delivered.

Basically, a huge play on online transactions in many different categories.

The company on Friday reported a 29% increase in revenues to Rs 113 cr and a 98% increase in net profit to Rs 29 cr for the quarter ended September 2013 on a year on year basis. As compared to the previous quarter, revenues grew 7.5% and profits grew 2.2 %.

The company’s CEO, V S S Mani said

As part of our strategy to provide users with convenience & ease of performing online transactions we are in the process of developing various products in the transaction enablement space. We hope to launch some of these in the next few quarters.

The company which listed on the BSE in May said that its operating margins increased to 31% in the quarter as compared to 28% in the corresponding quarter last year.

JustDial received about 122.6 million visits from users of its search services in the quarter as compared to 90.3 million in the year ago quarter. Searches on JustDial increased 44% to 291.8 million queries for the quarter as compared to 202.6 million in Q2FY13.

As we had pointed out earlier, JustDial is more of an Internet company now. About 68% of the company’s usage in the quarter came from mobile and PC based Internet users as compared to 61% last year. Mobile contributed to 20% of the total usage.

At the end of the September quarter, the company was conducting approximately 238,650 paid campaigns for paid advertisers.
