If you can’t find it on Google, try JustDial. If you still can’t find it, you can earn Rs.15.

JustDial has launched a reseller program to crowd source its database and also find resellers for its smart listings (paid) services. What’s different is that they have made it a premium crowd sourcing model by adding a Rs.3000 registration fee to become a reseller. Only time will tell whether this is a barrier for the crowd or Justdial itself. Justdial’s justification is that only serious people should pursue this and as a real business opportunity.

How JustDial Reseller program works?

1. Register for Rs.3000 and get trained to become a reseller.
2. For every new business record that you submit, you get Rs.15. For every pic you get Rs.5.
3. On every sales of smart listing you get 33% as commission on registration and 20% on monthly ECS.

I am very skeptic if this would pick up. Firstly they are mixing two different jobs. Adding business record is a data entry job, very high paying though. Whereas smart listings is a pure sales job.

Given the size of Justdial’s data, it is difficult to find enough businesses for data entry. May be giving Rs.20 recharge for data entry to college students might get more traction. Data validation for quality control is needed in both the cases.

I believe/hope they have something smarter then what we see on the face.

In the past other local search startups like Onyomo and MetroMela have tried this approach but weren’t really successful.
