Local search engine JustDial, which had recently talked about its plans to become an online marketplace has spelled out the details. The idea is to enable online transactions. In other words, get its foot into the e-commerce door!
The move by the company was made in order to transition from being solely a local search engine to a service provider facilitating transactions between consumers and providers of various products and services.
The marketplace will facilitate the purchase of various branded goods such as mobile phones, camera etc. from the neighborhood stores participating through this platform. Users will also be able to use this new platform for price comparison, of the relevant product.
The company plans to rope in SMEs to help build the online marketplace and only provide the platform for the transactions. JustDial says that it will not be taking care of the last mile logistics associated with the services rendered, and that the SMEs or associates responsible will take care of logistics for the particular transaction.
According to JustDial, the SME will receive the benefit of an increased online presence and transactions via the medium, while the customer gets a ‘one stop-search destination’ for all their needs.
The company also says that it will soon add a ‘trust factor tab’ to help aid a customer’s decision. The tab is planned to include the year of establishment of the business, the JD verified stamp and overall ratings to ensure reliability of the a product. They also plan to integrate price comparison into the shop service. The shopping service claims to have over 37,000 products like cameras, mobile phones, tablets, televisions etc.
On the services front, the company will now add a transactional tab for all categories. So, if a user searches for a restaurant’s listing, they will now also get an option to either book a table, or order food on the same listing, instead of navigating away from the page. The services extend across ordering flowers, requirements for a wedding, booking taxis, restaurants etc.
