Kick for Change is a very interesting campaign started by NGO, Magic Bus. The digital campaign turns the city of Mumbai into a giant football ground! Using Google maps, the site has laid out a path stretching 83 km (83,000 m) across the city.
The campaign asks visitors to make a donation by kicking a football on this map. Each donation of a small sum of 300 rupees ($6) will kick a virtual football forward 2 meters on this 83000 meter ground.
This donation drive will change the lives of 17000 street children. The money and support raised will directly go to Magic Bus’ unique Sports for Development Programme that empowers underprivileged children and youth in making effective life choices.
Besides the innovative use of web technology we are also trying to make fund raising a fun initiative rather than the plain old ‘go help a child’. We’re also heavily banking on social media to spread the word and have already got support from the local blogs in the city of Mumbai.
Of all the charity drives we have seen so far, Kick for change is probably the most well thought out. So go kick and bring that change.
