Kolkata Airport launches DigiYatra with facial recognition technology
- The Kolkata Airport has launched DigiYatra, a facial recognition technology, to facilitate check-in and boarding.
- It is the fourth airport in India to have this technology, after Delhi, Bengaluru and Varanasi.
- The main objective of this technology is to enhance passenger experience by eliminating the need for ticket and ID verification at multiple touch points and to improve passenger movement through existing infrastructure.
- Trials of the technology started on February 21, and 9,206 passengers have already utilized the facility.
- Passengers travelling through Air India are eligible to use this technology.
