In a blogpost on Thursday, C Chaitany, the Principal Architect at Ozonetel Systems which made KooKoo wrote

To support Indian languages at least in a limited domain, we are releasing a new tag <say-as> which provides the language packs for 10 Indian languages.

Using the tag, you can program your telephone’s IVR to play dates, numbers and currencies in 10 Indian languages.

Earlier, the company had partnered with Hyderabad based startup AksharSpeech to provide Telugu and Hindi Text to speech services.

Thew new tag is pre recorded audio in a recording studio.

So if you give 20121227 as input and English as the language our code will convert it to “December 27 2012”. Same text but if we choose Hindi as language, the code will convert it to “Sattaees December dho hazar bharaa,” Chaitanya told NBW.
