Online eye-wear store Lenskart has launched ‘Home eye check-up program’, for people who want to get their eyes tested before buying eye wear.
A Lenskart eye check-up van will bring a certified optometrist with equipment to conduct an examination of your eyes to your door step. The van also comes equipped with Lenskart’s bestselling 200-250 pairs of eyeglasses and sunglasses.
The company said that the service is for those 40-50% potential buyers who would want to buy spectacles online but are not aware of their eye-power.
It will also let users sample spectacles from Lenskart.
The service will cost you Rs 100.

Two things that would prevent them from buying spectacles online – lack of surety about their power and doubts about how the pair of eyeglasses would look on their face.
Trial vans, are quite prevalent in larger ecommerce markets such as China. We might see this trend picking up in India in the days to come. It also appears that customers aren’t very willing to buy eye ware, fashion and apparel where they are used to trying the product on before buying. Some innovations like virtual trial rooms are being tried. But nothing like the real deal eh?
