Linkedin India Crosses the 24 Million User Mark

Linkedin India has crossed the 24 million user base, forming the second largest user base for the professional networking site after the US.

Linkedin has more than 24 million users in India, becoming the professional networking site’s second largest user base after USA.


India operations began in November 2009 and  grew 500% from 3.2 million users to 20 million by May 2013.

In 2013 alone, Linkedin India saw an addition of over 7 million members. As of January 2013, Linkedin grew more than 30% in India.

It has more than 50 million users in the Asia Pacific region, the company said.

Top five industries to which members belonged to in the Asia Pacific region are IT & Services, Telecommunications, Oil & Energy, Banking & Financial Services, and Hospitality.

The top five countries on Linkedin with more than a million members in the Asia Pacific region were:

  • India – 24+ million

  • Australia – 5+ million

  • China – 4+ million

  • Indonesia – 2+ million

  • Philippines – 2+ million
