When I last covered the bluetooth story of IPL’s Royal Challenger team, few things came out clearly:
- People are ready to try out bluetooth (unlike the regular belief and concerns regd. virus/spam etc)
- BlueRevolution is happening and advertisers are looking for newer channels to market product
And that means a local search player can partner with bluetooth marketing company and can easily send local data/ads to users. In India, most of the bluetooth advertising will happen via youth joints like Cafe Coffee day, Barista and it’s just a matter of time that local players will start distributing very relevant info/discount coupons to users.
Infact, I’d say that local search/info + bluetooth is lot more powerful than a approximated location based service.
