Amateur musicians team up to launch Lost Beat, a music discovery platform for Indie music

Abhay Pruthi and Ashish Goel are musicians themselves. As amateurs, they couldn’t find an appropriate stage to showcase their talent or take their music places. To make the lives of indie musicians easier, they decided to build a platform and Lost Beat happened.

Lost Beat is a creative initiative by three youngsters, including Abhay’s brother Akshay, to uncover potential talent from unheard musicians. The trio, have created a full fledged music networking website which is a neat mashup of features from Facebook, Soundcloud and YouTube.

Through the site, the three not only want to provide a platform for new artists but also share their interests and for listeners to talk to budding artists. The startup has taken an online as well as offline approach to promoting young musicians. While musicians can showcase their work on the site, they also get opportunities to perform in shows organised by the lost beat team.
LostbeatThe site has features such as the “strength of my identity” which not only lets a band or an artist know the number of fans they have and the likes they get but also their popularity on the scale of five based on the average of all. Another important feature is the “beat box” which helps to upload, share and classify songs according to different genres, artists, albums. “Mood cloud” is another feature allowing listeners to cut across genres and listen to music according to their mood be it happy, sad, rocking or romantic.

One can upload and share pictures, send and receive messages and add friends on the site.

“We know how musicians struggle to snag shows within and out of their cities, whilst practice ceaselessly with immense passion and vigor. We want to help them all that flux of creative energy toward valuable sources through networking,” said Akshay Pruthi, who in his second year of Engineering studies.

The startup is self funded and things are going quite well, says Akshay. “We also launched an online music competition which got 25000 impressions of visits, Our player got over 500 shares in the first month of its launch,” he added.
