An app called MoooFarm uses Machine Learning to help farmers distinguish between their cattle and the stray ones. This app was trained to differentiate between cattle by feeding a lot of data including images shot from different angles, lighting, and background.
Though the app claims over 95% accuracy in identifying cattle, the company is still trying to assess the minimum resolution of images or the minimum hardware required to make the algorithm work.
The app now can identify cattle, their breed, age, sex, etc. all using just an image shot using even a basic smartphone camera. It aims to minimize insurance frauds and also solve the shelter and food shortage issue by helping the owner identify stray cattle.
