Apple Launches Official Program For Third-Parties To Build Apple Watch Bands

Apple has rolled out a program for third-party developers to design watch bands for the Apple Watch, similar to its MFi programs for accessories for the iPhone, iPad and iPod.
Made For Apple Watch Program
Dubbed the “Made For Apple Watch” program, third-party developers will be able to use Apple’s standard connectors for straps, and the company has promised it will make available the lugs.
The specifications for Apple Watch band makers is quite straightforward. Developers will have to comply with certain environmental specifications and should be able to be tightened enough for the heart-rate monitor to function.
There’s also no mention of specifications for developing accessories such as chargers for the Apple Watch however, or any mention of the diagnostics port some third-party manufacturers were hoping to use.
Apart from this, there are some neat diagrams of the Apple Watch, which show’s off the device’s industrial design that may please some of you enthusiasts out there.

All in all, brace yourself for the hoards of Apple Watch bands that are coming, we assure you there’ll be something right from quirky to sophisticated to please everyone.
