Mahindra & Mahindra has joined the Open Automotive Alliance (OAA) to work along with Google and bring ‘Android Auto’ into the dashboards of its future car lineup.
The company said it will provide the next level of connectivity to its customers with Android Auto through its association with Google and the OAA.
Mahindra has already announced that it will bring Android Auto to its flagship XUV 500 and Scorpio SUV as well as on future platforms.
Android Auto basically functions as an extension of a user’s smartphone in the car, offering hands free controls and other driver friendly aids. Further, the platform will also integrate into a car’s hardware and diagnostics.
While Google is using Android Auto as a way to get itself into cars, auto manufacturers such as Mahindra will use it to draw in young tech-savvy buyers that are looking for vehicles that will sustain their ultra-connected lifestyles.
