Meru Cabs Gains Google Now Integration

Meru Cabs has become India’s first cab service to partner with Google over integration with its digital assistant Google Now.

The move will mean that users will now receive alerts for cab pickups and context relevant reminders to avail of a cab depending on their location. The service is being rolled out within the Google app for Android, and will throw up information via Google Now cards.
It’s odd that Google has partnered with Meru instead of SF-based taxi service Uber which it has backed with its own money. For now the service will be available only to Android device users in India, which is fine given that Android dominates the smartphone landscape in the country.
