Micromax launches A116 Canvas HD, Powered by MediaTek Quad Core processor

In 2012, Micromax announced its partnership with MediaTek and the first handset to hit the market, post this partnership is A116 Canvas HD.

A116 Canvas is a dual sim Android device that comes with 5” 720p IPS screen, 1GB of RAM and quad-core processor.

The new quad-core MT6589 System on a Chip (SoC) integrates MediaTek’s advanced multi-mode (SoC) integrates MediaTek’s advanced multi-mode UMTS Rel. 8/HSPA+/TD-SCDMA modem that can support up to 42/11Mbps (Rel. 8 HSPA+), a power-efficient quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU subsystem from ARM, PowerVR Series5XT GPU from Imagination Technologies.

Also, MediaTek’s MT6589 makes it possible to receive calls on both the SIMs concurrently due to its Dual-SIM, Dual-Active functionality. The chipset solution manages to deliver all these premium multimedia capabilities with extremely low power consumption. The MT6589 also supports multi-screen content sharing through Miracast technology and pre-integrates MediaTek’s leading 4-in-1 connectivity combo to support 802.11n Wi-Fi, BT4.0, GPS and FM Radio.
