Micromax has announced the launch of its flagship Canvas Knight 2 smartphone at Rs 16,299 featuring 4G LTE connectivity and a premium metal and glass construction.
The device will be available across India from June 10 onwards and Micromax has tied up with Airtel to offer a free 4G SIM and a 4G double-data offer to all buyers.
The Canvas Knight 2 features a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixel) AMOLED display protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3, and is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor, clocked at 1.5GHz.
That processor is coupled to 2GB of DDR3 RAM, while there’s 16GB of on-board storage memory. There’s also an SD card slot which supports cards of up to 32GB.
In terms of imaging, the Canvas Knight 2 features a 13MP primary camera at the rear, while the front-facing unit has a resolution of 5MP. All that hardware is coupled to a 2260mAh battery that’s apparently good for 7 hours 45min of talk time and 335 hours of standby time.
The device runs on Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop software but comes preinstalled with bloat including apps such as CleanMaster, App Center, Snapdeal, Swiftkey, Chaatz, NewsHunt, Quikr and Hotstar.
Micromax boasts that the Canvas Knight 2 is all metal and glass, featuring a metal rim running around the periphery of the device, with the front and rear of the device made of Gorilla Glass 3. While glass is great, it’s prone to breaking and moreover it isn’t known if that has meant losing the removable back.
When it comes to communication, the device features dual SIM card slots, both of which support 4G LTE bands. Other options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, but lacks NFC and other newer standards.
