Microsoft has officially announced that it is rolling out OTA updates for select Lumia smartphones in India to enable support for 4G LTE bands.
The company has said that the update is now being rolled out to the Lumia 1520, Lumia 1320, Lumia 1020, Lumia 930, Lumia 925, Lumia 920, Lumia 830, and Lumia 625 smartphones.
Users of these devices will receive a notifications informing them of the update or they can manually download it by heading to Settings > Phone update > Check for Update.
Once the update has been installed, users will have to enable 4G under the Mobile + SIM tab in the settings menu. Regardless to say, in order to use 4G data networks, the same will have to be enabled at the carrier’s end.
Nokia had equipped Lumia phones with penta-band LTE support, however, given the lack of 4G services in the country, the company had deactivated it. Now users of even entry-level Lumia devices such as the 625 will have access to high-speed internet.
