Microsoft acquires Lumencity, the startup developing high-speed data cables

Microsoft says that the acquisition will “expand [its] ability to further optimize its global cloud infrastructure” and “serve Microsoft’s cloud platform and services customers with strict latency and security requirements.”

Lumenisity creates “hollow core fibre (HCF)” solutions primarily for ISPs and data centres, and its fibres are installed in client networks “with the longest spans ever reported utilizing HCF technology.”
