Why Microsoft Calls it’s new search engine Bing?

News is out that Microsoft’s new search engine will be called Bing and as Steve Ballmer admits:

“I am not what you would call the creative side of life. Short matters. Being able to verb up can be helpful.” – TC

But why Bing?

Lets go back in history. Back in the early days of web, there were competitive email clients and the story behind one of the email client’s name, P.I.N.E is that it meant Pine is not Elm. (Elm was another email client)

Going by the same analogy, BING means

BING Is Not Google!

Well, we do not know, but as Steve Ballmer says, short matters.

And we just took a sho(r)t! 🙂
