In 2013, InMobi delivered over 50 Mn app installs for app developers and gaming studios who advertised on InMobi ad network. After analysis of over thousands of app promotion campaigns that ran on the InMobi ad network in Q2 2O13, here are some of their insights,
The cost to drive a download(CPD) is the least expensive in India compared to other countries and is the highest in the United Kingdom.
India with 9.5% of the overall app download, also accounted for the second highest market for app downloads, USA with 33.8% accounted for the market with highest overall app downloads, the InMobi App Insight report said.
At 64% games represented the most downloaded app category, followed by apps in the communication category which shared 11.3% of the most downloaded app category. With only 0.03% education was the category with the least amount of app downloads.
Android seems to have the edge with interstitials ads, with conversion rates of 3.06%, nearly twice that of any other ad formats. Conversion rate for interstitial ads on the iOS platform was only 1.73%.
The report also said that it is yet time to do away with banner ads, as they continue to work well for a wide range of non-gaming content both on iOS and Android platforms. Banner ads had a conversion rate of 3.3% on the iOS platform and 3.5% on the Android platform on a non-gaming category like software.
Tablets is the most preferred medium for running ad campaigns as the report saw higher user engagement from tablet users. Tablet users are also 3 times more open to consuming ads compared to smartphones.
According to the report Apple is the top tablet manufacturer for Q2 2013 with 53.9% market share followed by Samsung with 28.4% market share. iPad with 53.9% market share seems to be the most preferred tablet model followed by Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 with 10.2% market share.
