Mobile Phone Are The New Movie Screens & Televisions Among Indians [Report]
At 62%, more than half of Indian respondents prefer to watch movies and TV shows instead of short movie clips on their mobile phones and 79% of the respondents who prefer this long form content fall under the age group of 18 and below, according to a recent report.
89% of the respondents said that they would watch their favourite movie on their mobiles if it was made available to them through it. As far as preference among gender goes, 90% of male respondents and 84% of female respondents from the country said they would view their favourite film through their mobile phones if available, the 2013 Global Video Insights by Vuclip said.
The study was conducted amongst 50,000 people globally, including approximately 8,000 from India.
Other than movies, TV shows have emerged as a top favourites with 81% of respondents saying they would prefer to watch their favorite TV shows on mobile, if available. 95% of the respondents in the age group of 18 and below have this preference.
Inspite of the trend of consuming long form content via the mobile phone, 39% of respondents are concerned about the high cost of data access. Buffering at 19% and the lack of interesting content at 12% where some of the other top concerns of the respondents.
