Out of the top 150 phones, 94 products were cheaper online whereas the rest 56 products were cheaper offline, reveals a study conducted by Pricebaba.
Out of the 94 products sold online, 51 products were cheapest on Snapdeal, followed by flipkart with 23 products and Amazon with 20.
In the offline market, out of 56 products, 25 products were cheapest in Mumbai, followed by 19 products in Bangalore and 12 in Delhi.
For example, the Apple iPhone 6 Plus 16GB was found to be the cheapest on Snapdeal with a price tag of Rs 50,900, whereas the lowest price for the phone offline is Rs 54,000 in Mumbai.
In another case, the Samsung Galaxy S6 64GB was priced at Rs. 45,000 in Mumbai making it cheaper by Rs 2,900 when compared to its online price of Rs 47,900 on Flipkart and Amazon.
“One of our findings suggests that the products which were available online were cheaper by Rs 1,148 on an average than their offline prices,” says the Pricebaba study.
Additionally, the report also states that Samsung, Sony and Lava had more number of products sold at a cheaper price offline. Other brands like Apple and Micromax were sold at a cheaper price online.
