And finally, 3G Debuts in India

And finally, 3G Debuts in India

MTNL has launched it’s 3G service in Delhi, putting India officially in 3G map.

MTNL plans to offer the service free to high-end users and will start charging once the rollout is complete.

BSNL too is launching it’s 3G service in Chennai (by Jan 2009) , but private players will have to wait till Feb 9 for 3G auction.

3G’s major challenge lies in the fact that towers need to be closer to each other and hence, operators owing to their current infrastructure will charge a premium price to the early adopters.

Are you excited about 3G? How much are you willing to shell out per month?

Will iPhone sales soar once private players start rolling out their 3G operation?
