The proposed strike called by the city’s taxi and autorickshaw drivers has now been postponed to September 1, after Maharashtra Transport Minister Diwakar Raote assured them that the state would soon take a “positive decision” to regulate services of app-based cab aggregators like Uber and Ola. The drivers’ union said they will be meeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on September 1 to discuss their issues.
The unions are protesting against the cab aggregators over their pricing strategy to attract customers, which they complaint is threatening their livelihood.
