Online deals platform mydala has just launched their latest mobile application for both Android and iOS. The app enables users to buy deals based on location. Deals are also customized based on buying patterns. mydala claims to have over 100,000 merchants present in more than 120 cities, on their website which is now also available on the mobile app.
The app pretty much offers all the facilities like that of the website, and the best part of the app is that a user would be able to instantly buy and redeem a deal if they are near an outlet.
The mydala App also has a ‘My Mood’ feature that is suppose to pick your chemistry by scanning your thumbprint and suggesting deals based on your mood. (More on that below).
We tried out the mydala app on our iPod Touch (iOS) and Galaxy Nexus (Android). The user interface on both Android and iOS are identical with the app borrowing inspiration from iOS. The menu bar is at the bottom which allows one to go through various tabs like Deal Pulse, Lucky Draw, Home, My Mood and Search.
The home tab offers the best deals based on your location as well as a few top deals. Deal Pulse lists out all the top deals and free deals. Lucky draw, just like the feature on the website, offers you to take part in a draw for a prize for a very nominal amount. If you don’t win, that money is converted back into mydala cash for you to use.
mydala is touting the My Mood as the highlight of the app. Well, all we can say is that this feature is quite gimmicky. We tried it out multiple times and on multiple people and it just offered up “positive moods” and suggested deals based on that. After a long days work, we are going to be tired and would have loved to be served up some options for cold beer.
One can also narrow down deals accord to categories like restaurants, health & beauty, travel, activities & hobbies, products etc and then these can be filtered down further. We found the categorization and filtering to be very well implemented. The search feature lets one find a deal even faster.
Once one finds a deal, he/she is interested in purchasing it is very simple. The app lists outs all the conditions as well as where the deal can be redeemed and the period it is valid for. There are even multiple pictures for most deals to assist you with.
While one can browse the deals without logging in, to purchase a deal a user will have to be registered with the website.
Payment for the deal can be done easily with credit card/debit card or OxiCash. We noticed that some deals even had cash on delivery.
Overall, the experience of using the app was quite good and we can see deal junkies really using this app a lot.
Sometime back we reviewed DealChaat, a location aware deal app for iPhone & Android.
