MySpace India launch, to announce developer platform soon

MySpace, after the Korea launch is now gearing up for the official India launch.

The India launch is happening on April 17th (Rock Concert @ Taj Land’s End Ampitheater, Mumbai) and the developer announcement will be made in Bangalore. It is expected that Chris DeWolfe- CEO of MySpace is flying in for the event.

To attend the MySpace party (it’s free), you need to add IndiHub and an invite will be sent to you.

MySpace India has tied up with rock bands like Pentragram, Superfuzz, Thermal and a qtr, Them Clones etc.

And now comes the bigger question

Is India ready for a “cool” social network, the one that enables them to upload music/show off their talent etc?

From the scene so far, Indian use social networks primarily for connecting to friends, and not for “hanging out” with friends.

But what can potentially change the landscape is the launch of Orkut Apps – Indians will start “hanging around” and get jamming on the net, and MySpace’s entry might be rightly timed.

What’s your opinion?
