Narendra Modi will no longer be part of Facebook Talks Live general elections special , the official Facebook page has announced. The BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate has pulled out of the talk show that was set to be hosted by News Laundry’s Madhu Trehan.
“We are disappointed to announce that Narendra Modi has decided to cancel his participation in Candidates 2014 on Facebook Talks Live. We apologize to the Facebook community and those who submitted questions. We will begin our series starting Tuesday, March 4 at 8pm IST with Arvind Kejriwal as our first guest.”
Facebook Talks was originally scheduled to kick off on March 3rd with Narendra Modi as the first guest. Reports by the News Minute allege that Narendra Modi cancelled on the show owing to the partnership with NDTV 24×7, while some others claim that it was due to the kind of questions that were being asked by Facebook users.
Facebook had announced its election special on February 20th. Facebook Talks Live is an special series where Facebook’s users can ask questions directly to leaders like Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and Akhilesh Yadav among others. Facebook Talks is being conducted in association with NDTV 24×7 and News Laundry.
Facebook Talks host Madhu Trehan has said in an interview with the News Minute that the News Laundry team would put out a detailed explanation for Modi pulling out once the series completes.
The series has been rescheduled and will now begin on March 4th with AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal as the first guest.
