While the govt. maybe getting ready to ban e-cigarettes in India, experts feel that only practical solution to the problem is a total crackdown, at both central and state level, on illegal imports and sale of e-cigarettes.
The yet to be approved, “Prohibition of E-cigarettes Ordinance 2019” ordinance seeks to ban the production, import, distribution, and sale of electronic cigarettes. It also proposes hefty monetary fines and severe punishments for offenders. 13 Indian states have banned hookah and e-cigarettes and a few more planning to do so.
According to a recent survey, over 36 e-cigarette companies are operating illegally in India.
