Nearly 50% Growth in I-T Returns Filed for Income Above Rs 1 Crore in FY22-23

  • Maharashtra recorded highest returns filed for 2022-23, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.
  • Over 2.69 lakh income tax returns were filed for income above Rs 1 crore for 2022-23, showing a 49.4% hike from 2018-19.
  • However, income categories excluding up to Rs 5 lakh saw a decrease in number of returns filed during 2020-21 due to COVID-19 impact.
