This is the 1999 version of Netflix, when it was an ecommerce site selling DVDs.
This is 2004 version when you were ‘renting DVDs’ from Netflix.

By 2011, Netflix presents its DVD-by-mail service as an “add-on” to its streaming service—this is the ‘shift’ which is about to happen.
The 2017 homepage is all about trials. And not about ‘What Netflix is about’ – because we all know what Netflix is about.
This is a wonderful example of how product, marketing and design team has worked together to create the Netflix brand.
For most companies, these teams hardly talk to each other and that is the biggest lesson one can take away from this.
