Even after all the social networking tools with reminder feature for your friends’ birthday we still manage to miss them. And then realize it only after a lot of noise in our feed stream.
AutoBudder is a Facebook app, from a team of students at Manipal University, that wishes your friends directly on their walls instead of sending a reminder to you and tries to make sure that you are the first one to do so. The app is dead simple as all you have to do is, sign up. The app starts sending out wishes every midnight on your behalf.
One basic issue i find with this kind of service is that probably knowing that the wishes were automated would kill the purpose of the wishes. Wishes are pleasant for the fact that, “You remembered!?”. Already with a birthday reminder from Facebook almost everybody seems to be wishing everybody else, and it is losing value and being redundant.
That said, Autobudder is working on this issue by adding little features like customizing the message, ignoring certain friends etc. And ofcourse it might be better to have an automated wish than to not have a wish at all.
