New data protection bill by Indian govt proposes penalty of up to 500 crore for violation

The government has increased the penalty amount for violating the provisions proposed in the draught Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2022.

The draught proposes a fine of up to Rs. 250 crore if a Data Fiduciary or Data Processor fails to protect against personal data breaches in its possession or control.
