Spotted: With new Inbox, Google Comes up with a new Email Based Ad Format

Google launched a new Inbox a few days back – an inbox that automatically understands the email and sends its to the corresponding tab (Inbox/Promotional/Social/Forums etc).

To those who have enabled the new Inbox, you’d agree with me that Google’s algorithm actually seems to be working fine.  And hence, a new ad format that nicely blends ad with the Inbox.

The ad is supposedly a contextual ad and as of writing this, clicking on ‘Ads Settings’ throws a blank screen.

You can forward the ad to others and even the save the same in your Inbox.

Point to be noted is that Gmail showed* this ad only in the ‘Promotion’ tab. Maybe it’s time for publishers to learn ‘native advertising’ strategy from Google.
