News: BPO Inside a Jail (WoW!)

Hyderabad’s Cherlapally Central Jail is all set to become the only prison in the country to have a BPO unit in its premises. The BPO would be manned by educated convicts serving out their terms. Reliance Big Buys Hollywood Distributor IM Global

Reliance Big Entertainment Ltd, part of diversified ADA Group,has bought a majority stake in IM Global, a Hollywood film sales company with bases in Los Angeles and London, in a bid to ramp up its own distribution abilities for Bollywood movies in key markets outside India such as the UK and US.[source]

Excess 2G Spectrum – Operators to pay for it

In a decision that can potentially devastate Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular financially, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has recommended that 2G operators hoarding excess spectrum will have to pay market rates for it. Excess means above 6.2 MHz, with charges being one time 3G auction price for excess spectrum up to 8 MHz, and 1.3 times for that above 8 MHz. Bharti and Vodafone hold more than 10 MHz in many circles, including Mumbai and New Delhi; Idea far less so.[source]
