News Roundup: BoxTV on EvoTV; Book Trains Tickets with Cleartrip Android App

boxtv-logoTimes Internet’s BoxTV has tied up with Amkette to offer the former’s video-on-demand service on EvoTV.  EvoTV  is flagship product from Amkette, that converts a consumer’s television to a smart TV at a fraction of the cost. The partnership will bring the entire BoxTV content library to the EvoTV through its app on the platform. BoxTV says that consumers will be able to browse and watch over 10,000 hours of free content across various languages and genres.

The EvoTV BoxTV app will have several unique features which allow quick access to movies recommended by BoxTV editorial team on the home-screen, one click access to a large content library with popular movies and TV shows and several multimedia features like play, pause etc though remote control integration. EvoTV has XBMC, an open source software media player, integrated which allows direct playback from Android and iOS devices. For people that buy the EvoTV before July 15th there is a free one month subscription of BoxTV premium services. The EvoTV box is priced at Rs 10,500/-

Now Book Train Tickets on the Cleartrip Android App

cleartrip-android-app-logoCleartrip has released an update for its Android app which now lets users book train tickets from within the app. Apart from booking Indian Railway tickets users will also be able to check the PNR status of the wait-listed tickets using the app.

To book tickets, users will need to connect their IRCTC account with Cleartrip account on the app one time. As far as we know this is the first Android app which allows you to book tickets directly. All the others just redirect you to the IRCTC mobile website. The Cleartrip Android app also lets users book both domestic and international air tickets. Just last week, The Indian Railways introduced a way to book tickets via SMS.

Datawind Enters into Partnerships with CricHQ

datawind-logoThe maker of the Aakash and Ubislate series of tablets has signed a partnership with global cricket technology company CricHQ, to install the latters apps on all their tablet devices. The CricHQ app allows customers to score matches, watch training videos and receive live ball-by-ball updates from cricket matches around the world. Datawind and CricHQ hope to provide cricket technology to all which was till now reserved for the games elite. New Zealand cricketer Stephen Fleming is the co-founder of CricHQ.
