News Roundup: OnMobile Completes Livewire Acquisition; BoxTv Hits 50 Million Views

OnmobileOnMobile Global Limited, the telecom Value Added Services (VAS) company, has said that it has closed the acquisition of Livewire Mobile. The acquisition was announced earlier in June.

The Bangalore headquartered company, is one of the largest B2B digital VAS providers for mobile, landline and media services globally. The company  provides mobile entertainment services, such as RBT, Music, Gaming, for telecom operators in Asia, Africa and Europe.

With this acquisition the entities combined US client base will include major telecom players like AT&T, T-Mobile, Rogers, Sprint, metro PCS, US Cellular and Cricket. This should cover 6 of the top 10 mobile operators in the US.* Hits 50 Million Views, The video streaming service from Times Internet, has released their viewership statistic according to which the service has received more than 50 million views in the past 4 months.

Here are some of the other insights from the release;

  • The portal has has an average of more than 100,000 unique users accessing it daily.

  • At an average a user spents 27 minutes in the portal per visit.

  • 62% of premium subscribers consumed Hindi content followed by 20% for English and 17% regional.

  • Tamil and telugu lead in the regian content segment.

  • “Amitabh Bachchan”, “Cricket”, “Sex” and “Adult” are the most searched keywords on the portal.

BoxTV started with an invite-only private alpha in September 2012 and subsequently offered the service to public in February 2013. The platform includes content from various genres like movies, TV shows, short films and documentaries in Hindi, English and other regional languages. The platform also has content tie ups with studios like Sony Pictures Television, Disney UTV and Celestial Entertainment for Hollywood content. UTV Motion Pictures, Shemaroo Entertainment, Rajshri Entertainment and Everymedia Technologies provide Bollywood and other regional content.
