News aggregation app, Newshunt has just announced that today the app served its 10 billionth news page view. This comes four years after the product was launched in June 2009.
At the same time last year, they were at 3.6 billion page views which means the app has seen a 177% growth in just the last one year.
The company also announced that 94.7% of its page views were for news in regional languages. The app currently supports 99 newspapers in 11 languages and has leading newspapers like Hindustan Times, The Hindu, India Express etc. Though 70% of users read English as a “second” language, regional languages continue to be the leading traffic drivers. Popular regional papers include Dainik Bhaskar, Dainik Jagran, Malayalam Manorama etc.
There are more than 25,000 articles published daily and the app has been downloaded over 25 million times.
NewsHunt is available on all platforms and devices including Symbian, Blackberry, Android & iOS and devices that support Java. You can also access it directly on http://m.newshunt.com from your mobile browser.
The app sees an average at 60,000 mobile visitors at any given second with peak loads being even higher. 26% of our users visit us from outside India and Android is the fastest growing platform.
At our #StartupRoot events in May, Virendra Gupta,the founder of NewsHunt said there are 12 million articles read on NewsHunt everyday compared to the 10 million read on Pulse. NewsHunt has 6.5 million monthly active users compared to the 4 million on Flipboard and each user spends close to 121 minutes monthly on NewsHunt compared to 86 minutes on Flipboard. This would make Newshunt bigger than Flipboard!
