The Govt. has given a go-ahead to NITI Aayog’s national AI program and has approved the spending of Rs. 7,000 crore till 2024-25 for the same. This plan aims at creating a National AI center and a task force to identify projects and initiatives to implement AI.
Both MeitY and NITI Aayog had been pitching for an AI center and had a fallout over clashes in AI roadmap.
MeitY had evaluated the use of AI for citizens and asked for Rs. 470-480 crores to develop a platform for R&D, skilling and reskilling, assessing legal, regulatory, ethical and cybersecurity aspects, etc.
