Nokia has launched Asha 202 in India, priced at Rs. 4,149. Asha 202 is a dual SIM, touch & type phone and Nokia has partnered with telecom operators (Airtel, Aircel, Reliance, Tata Docomo, and Vodafone) to offer 100 MB of data/month for a period of 6 months.

Also, Asha is the first series to offer EA games in India and Asha 202 users will get 40 EA games (including Tetris and Need for Speed) for free for the first 60 days.

Key Specifications of Nokia Asha 202 are:

  • Internal Memory:Up to 10 MB free memory for user content.
  • Support for up to 32 GB with an external MicroSD memory card
  • Resistive touch, with ITU-T keypad
  • 2.4” touch screen
  • Customisable touch and swipe shortcuts (Series 40 Touch and Type user interface)
  • Series 40 Asha

Nokia already holds 19% market share in DUAL SIM space and rival, Samsung launched its first DUAL SIM handset in India in the month of Feb, 2012.

Given the price point at which Nokia is selling the Asha 202 device, it surely gives a tough competition to Chinese imports who are betting big on Android.

What’s your take on the DUAL SIM market in India? Nokia entered late, but the brand value and S40 ecosystem helped the company emerge winner in the otherwise crowded market.
