Have a musical streak in you? Want to create the next ringtone blockbuster? Nokia and AudioDraft have announced ‘India’s best new ringtone‘ contest, inviting enthusiasts to create own ringtone that embraces the heart and soul of Indian music.
Apart from India, musical talents across the world can participate in four separate competitions running simultaneously (in China, Middle East and Africa, South East Asia and Pacific and Latin America).
The winning ringtones will be added to the ringtone selection on certain Nokia device models of the specific regions they were created for, sitting alongside Nokia’s global set of ringtones for 2013. Winners will each pick up USD 1,500 in prize money, the prize fund totaling over USD 37,000 on offer plus an opportunity to have your work into millions of Nokia handsets.
“The ringtones can range from traditional classical/folk based local styles to the more popular and modern local styles. However all ringtones should in essence be contemporary (i.e., not old-fashioned). It’s also important to avoid styles that cannot be differentiated from Western popular music. The ringtones should be wholly original, with no reference to the classic Nokia tune or any existing melodies.” [contest site]
The Nokia Sound Design team will go through each one of the entries and shortlist five ringtones from each region.
Very recently, Nokia launched Nokia Music Theatre, a platform for discovering and nurturing musical talent in partnership with The Peninsula Studios and Universal Music.
