Finally, Nokia launches Lumia 920, 820 and 620 in India

The Lumia 920 has a 4.5 inch capacitive  display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels and runs on a 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor with 1 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory. Nokia Lumia 920 was first announced in September last year and released first in November.

The Nokia Lumia 920 price in India is Rs 38199 and the 820 is priced at Rs 27,599 and will be available in stores from Friday, the company said. The price of Lumia 620, which will be available form February, was not disclosed.

The range, billed as Nokia’s first real challenge to Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy series, sports quite a few innovations like wireless charging and a curved gorilla glass to protect the body. Indian users will have free access to Nokia music for a year, the company said at the time of launch.

Earlier, Nokia had launched the Lumia 900 which runs on WP7 operating system in India in September for Rs 32,999.

Nokia’s declining smartphone market share

At the end of the first six months of 2012, with 22.3 % market share Nokia was still a market leader in India followed by rival Samsung with 13 % markets hare. Homegrown phone-maker Micromax had 5.5 % market share.

However, Nokia’s leadership is owing to the feature phones it sell in the country. When it comes to smartphones, Samsung had a 41 % share compared to Nokia’s 19.2 % share. Samsung recently claimed that it sold nearly 10 million Android based Galaxy phones in India. Samsung had launched its Galaxy smartphones in June 2010.
