Nokia music store in India
We earlier covered the soft launch of Nokia’s music store and the same has been officially launched (link), enabling users access to 3 million songs.
Once you install the Nokia Music client on your desktop, you can access the entire store, browse through tracks, search by artists and genres, create your wish list and buy/download songs from the store.
Nokia Music Store includes the ability to listen to a 30 second clip of any track on the store before downloading it.
Nokia has tied up with leading international music labels such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music, EMI and Warner and major independent Indian record labels including Tseries, Yashraj Music, Saregama, BIG Music, Venus and IMI. [more]

Reliance’s Rural Initiative
Reliance has launched GrameenVAS, BharatNet and M2M service for rural India
BharatNet Plan: BharatNet plan is a variant of Reliance NetConnect high-speed wireless Internet service, specifically designed for the rural and sub-urban markets. BharatNet plan offers speeds of approximately 153 Kbps, which is 4 to 8 times the current dial-up speed of the wire-line services (offered in over 20,000 rural locations across India for just Rs. 98/week with downloads up to 350MB).
Grameen VAS: Grameen VAS would cover several specialised services including Mandi Bhav, Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Updates, Weather Forecast, Local Info, Samachar etc. all in multiple Indian Languages. These solutions can be categorised broadly under mLearning, mHealth, mCommerce, mUpdates and GroupSampark (Community Messaging). These services can be accessed via different modes i.e. Voice Portals, SMS, USSD, Data (R-World) etc. Grameen VAS is priced at Rs.15/month.
Machine to Machine Applications (M2M): These are mobile applications that aid automation, surveillance, remote monitoring, and data gathering. The M2M opportunity for rural market includes Automation of Agro & Irrigation services, water level monitoring, and data gathering for milk & agri-cooperatives, fisheries, poultry, and soil analysis. Similar such opportunities for the urban include mobile ticketing, purchase@Kiosks and vending machines, and remote monitoring of office automation products. [more]
mChek on voice/IVR
Airtel has launched voice/IVR based service (call 543219) enabling subscribers to pay their Airtel mobile and fixed-line bills on the voice platform. The service would also help in recharging Airtel mobile pre-paid and DTH accounts as well as Delhi-Gurgaon expressway toll tags through Interactive Voice Response (IVR).
