Paytm has bagged the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) deal to operate automatic toll collection at 40 out of the 350 toll booths on Indian highways.
Raghav Chandra, chairman for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), confirmed that under the contract, various highways across different states have been now converted into Paytm-operated toll plazas.
Paytm has come up as the biggest beneficiary of the govt’s decision to demonetize Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes and is aggressively spreading its wings further in the public-private partnership market in India. Under the partnership with the NHAI, commuters can now use Paytm FASTags to pass toll plazas which automatically deducts charges from their digital wallets.
NHAI is also offering 10% discounts on payment through digital modes.
